ICED24 Conference

Teaching and learning continue to change. COVID-19 Pandemic closures and the post pandemic learning experiences have expanded the thinking around facilitating learning. For example, learning facilitators were immersed in a new learning environment that required balancing traditional and technology-enhanced teaching approaches to facilitate learning. New competencies - of instructors and learners - were built through doing, observing, and creating new knowledge. More demands were made on how we manage the new learning environments, and more players entered the educational ecosystem. Our understanding of what our learners need has also been shifting.

ICED24 will provide space to share the ecosystems that serve to build competencies that our graduates require as they enter the job market and the strategies needed to build these competencies. As educational developers, we will explore these areas and the professional competencies required for the facilitators of learning that also build innovative and supportive ecosystems to nurture and develop employability capacities of our graduates.

ICED, The International Consortium for Educational Development

ICED promotes educational and academic development in higher education worldwide. ICED is the only forum of its kind, bringing together an international community of educational/academic developers and their network organisations. Membership is open to eligible network organisations, and comes with various benefits for network leaders and general members. The ICED Council is formed by Presidents, or their representatives, from each Member Network.

ICED has 27 Member Networks from all over the world.

Every second year, one of ICED's Member Networks is chosen by the ICED Council to hold the ICED Conference. In 2024, this conference will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, hosted by the Association for Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching (AFELT).

IJAD, International Journal for Academic Development

IJAD, International Journal for Academic Development, is the journal of ICED (International Consortium for Educational Development). The journal enables academic/educational developers in higher education across the world to exchange ideas about practice and extend the theory of educational development, with the goal of improving the quality of higher education internationally.

The Writing Retreat
Members of the IJAD editorial team will run three one-hour per day online sessions between May 27 and 30, 2024 with follow sessions during the conference.  

The purpose of this retreat is to support scholarly writing about academic development. Details about the retreat and registration are found on this link. 

IJAD Pre-Conference Workshop

IJAD Editorial team invites participants to a pre-conference workshop that will  be hold on June 4, 2024 at USIU-Africa, Nairobi, the venue for the ICED24 Conference. Details on registration are found on the link for registration.
